Philosophy

VTDI’s uniqueness is further enhanced by the fact that it utilizes the competency based approach to education and training in the delivery of its programmes. As a direct consequence, graduates are adequately equipped for employment upon completion of their programmes of study. Key areas in which the CBET approach is reflected, include but are not limited to the following:

Programme development

  • An advisory committee comprised of industry personnel and TVET professionals is established to guide programme development and review
  • Industry standards/requirements are utilized when developing programmes/courses

Programme delivery

  • Students are advised of the competencies to be achieved in advance of training
  • Creative methodologies are utilized in support of teaching and learning.
  • Feedback is continuous, timely and clear
  • Students are given multiple opportunities to master technical skills
  • Students can hone their technical skills in a real work-place scenario
