HEALTH IS WEALTH –
FROM A SPIRITUAL VIEWPOINT

One of the most treasured and greatest assets that we all need to secure is a healthy life.

It sets in motion the benefits of all other achievements that may follow. Having good health provides the opportunity for an individual to enjoy a good life because health is indeed wealth.

However, without a spiritual connection to the true source of health and wealth one can never be truly healthy and wealthy. As Proverbs 3:7-8 says, “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.”

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Tim.6:6 and “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Proverbs 17:22 (KJV). The scripture again confirms this important truth when 3 John 2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.

It is very difficult for you to dispute the fact that an unhealthy life makes you poor in every form. It deprives you of sustained happiness and impoverishes you of peace of mind.

Although having material wealth is important, it is woefully painful not to be spiritually healthy. For us to have a healthy relationship with our Maker we must be constantly in prayer and be sincere in our desire towards Him. Jesus asks, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?”

“Health is wealth,” is not merely a cliche but it is a profound truth as declared by John when he says, “I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health.” It’s a recognition that complete wealth and health can only be found in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report… if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
